Waka Ama Aotearoa New Zealand (WAANZ) is seeking a passionate and experienced Whaikaha Lead to provide leadership and support the implementation of our Whaikaha Action Plan. This role will help strengthen inclusive practices and create positive waka ama experiences for tāngata whaikaha at a community and participation level.

This is a part-time position (20 hours per week/0.5 FTE) on a two-year fixed-term contract. The role can be based in our Auckland office or undertaken remotely, with flexibility to travel as required.

About the Role

• Lead the implementation of the WAANZ Whaikaha Action Plan (Years 2–4)
• Ensure tāngata whaikaha are active partners in planning, decision-making and evaluation
• Build capability and confidence across the waka ama workforce to deliver inclusive experiences
