Position Summary

Housed in the School of Communication at the University of Central Arkansas, the First-Year Writing (FYW) and Writing, Rhetoric, and Information Design (WRID) programs seek candidates for a 9-month Visiting Assistant Professor position combining FYW and WRID, beginning August 16, 2026. This non-tenure-track position consists of a one-year appointment with the potential for renewal. The visiting faculty member will be responsible for teaching, research, and service. The position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policies. Job Duties and Responsibilities Teach in the FYW Program and, as needed, in the WRID Program. The teaching load is 4/4 (12 hours per semester), typically consisting of three FYW courses and one WRID course, with possible adjustments based on program needs.
