Overview

The primary function of this position is to diagnose and repair minor tire, mechanical, and electrical systems, on police equipment according to safety requirements, and to maintain CCPD units. The VMT I inspect all the vehicles brought into the vehicle pool to ensure they are safe, clean and operate properly. This position monitors and maintains the vehicle status board to update personnel on unit availability. Duties include mount, balance, change tires, and transports Police Department units from, and to, service area and stations. The VMT I may perform minor mechanical repairs as needed.

Responsibilities

· Inspect all vehicles to ensure they are safe, clean and operate properly

· Clean vehicle interiors by sweeping vacuuming and wiping down interior and windows

· Wash the vehicles’ exterior with pressure washer or at the City's wash rack
