Overview

The Utility Technician I’s are responsible for the maintenance and operation of the water distribution system and wastewater collection system. Employees must remain in compliance with TCEQ and other applicable laws and regulations while working within the scope of their position.

Responsibilities

· Works with a crew to install, repair and maintain water mains, valves, and fire hydrants; repair and maintain wastewater gravity and force mains, manholes, and services

· Operate hand tools, water pumps, and power saws

· Set up traffic control devices

· Perform confined space work

· Demonstrate work site safety and trench safety

· Provide customer service while performing responsibilities

· Work with a crew to perform wastewater system maintenance and cleaning

· Install meters at residential service connections
