Train Driver (Intermodal)

Purpose of the Job

To Drive trains in accordance with Rules & Regulations, Competency Based Standards for Train Driving and Freightliner's Defensive Driving Policy.

Principle Activities

• Responsible for attending and reporting for duty at the time and place directed, ensuring physical fitness to carry out duties as a Train Driver.
• Responsible for unsupervised safe movement of Traction.
• Responsible for absorbing and retaining knowledge of traction, routes, rules and regulations, and operating notices.
• Be able to act and adjust driving technique accordingly to suit prevailing conditions such as weather and rail conditions.
• Be vigilant in observing all signals applicable to train movements and immediately report any irregularities to the Signalman concerned.
