Tech II performs complex pre-analytic specimen receiving and processing using proper safety procedures in an accurate and ethical manner. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Specimen receipt, identification verification, processing, and storage, using lab automation, processing and prepares any specimens to send-out to referral labs, prepares and packages all mail out kits, while ensuring and maintaining positive patient identification throughout the process. Additional responsibilities may include maintaining and documenting send-out lab requisitions and billing, contributing to the development of standard operating procedures (SOPs), assisting with training new team members, assisting consultants with specimen collection and research, triaging specimens according to level of complexity and patient history, reagent preparation, and maintaining work unit supply inventory levels.
