Teaching Assistant Apprentice

As a teaching assistant apprentice you will support teaching staff in the classroom and be involved in the development, implementation and evaluation of pupils’ individual progress. You may also support individual children in class, and work with small groups of children within or outside the classroom.

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands‑on experience.

What you’ll do at work

To work under the direction of the teacher to raise pupil attainment and maintain a well‑ordered environment. You will work closely with children to enable them to access a full and rich curriculum within which they can make progress. Your work will include:

• Implementing strategies to support pupils such as giving further explanations, adapting work, prompting or encouraging concentration and participation
• Assisting with the assessment and recording of pupil progress
