The Registered Nurse in the Surgery Center is responsible and accountable for the delivery of individualized nursing care to patients having surgical intervention. The dimensions of practice range from pre-admission and preoperative assessment to intra-operative intervention on to postoperative evaluation. Incorporating current clinical knowledge with established nursing practice, he/she performs nursing intervention utilizing the nursing process. It is a practice designed to meet an individual's needs, from pediatric to the geriatric populations, through the nursing process, ensuring continuity of care during the surgical experience. This Registered Nurse participates in performance improvement activities.
