The Registered Nurse in the Surgery Center is responsible and accountable for the delivery of individualized nursing care to patients having surgical intervention. The dimensions of practice range from pre-admission and preoperative assessment to intra-operative intervention on to postoperative evaluation. Incorporating current clinical knowledge with established nursing practice, he/she performs nursing intervention utilizing the nursing process. It is a practice designed to meet an individual's needs, from pediatric to the geriatric populations, through the nursing process, ensuring continuity of care during the surgical experience.
