About the Role

The Social Worker Paediatric Community works closely with medical and nursing staff to support tamariki and their whanau who require support through health social work. Assessments and interventions are usually short‑term, with referrals to community agencies and health providers for any longer‑term needs.

Special interest areas include:

• Supporting tamariki and whanau with long‑term chronic health conditions such as diabetes.
• Supporting developmental needs such as ASD.
• Supporting families of children with a cancer diagnosis as part of an oncology MDT.
