Registered Nurse - Post-Operative Open Heart Care

Schedule: 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM

Assignment Duration: This is a 13-week contract position.

Job Description: Functioning within the health system's mission, vision, values, policies, and procedures, the Registered Nurse assumes responsibility and accountability for the care of assigned patients on his/her shift. The RN will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care using age-specific criteria with judgments based on scientific knowledge and clinical skills. The RN also assists in planning, directing, and teaching non-RN staff such as LPN/PCT and Unit Secretaries.

Responsibilities:

• Deliver direct post-operative care for open heart patients.
• Manage and care for chest tubes and other drainage systems.
• Undertake pre- and post-procedure care for patients with radial and femoral access.
• Monitor cardiac rhythms, read, and interpret cardiac rhythm strips.
