Responsibilities

Examines residential construction documents of One-, Two-, and Three‑Family Dwellings prior to construction for the purposes of ensuring compliance with laws, ordinances, rules, and regulations relating to construction, alteration, movement, enlargement, replacement, repair, equipment, use and occupancy, location, maintenance, removal and demolition. Performs related duties as required that pertain to enforcement of the Cleveland Housing Code, the Cleveland Zoning Code and the Ohio Residential Code.

Minimum Qualifications

Note: this classification utilizes the working titles of Residential Plan Examiner, Interim Residential Plan Examiner, and Residential Plan Examiner Trainee, depending on the certification held.
