About the Role

The Principal Engineer will modernise BNZ's lending stack, steering legacy platforms through to sunset while ensuring stability and resilience of current systems. The role is based in Wellington, full‑time, and hybrid with a minimum of three office days a week (Tuesdays and Thursdays).

Responsibilities

• Lead the transition from legacy lending technology to a modern, digital‑first platform built on Customer360 (nCino).
• Shape future engineering and quality excellence across Lending Platforms teams, guiding strategic decisions and setting long‑term technical strategy.
• Provide production incident response leadership, triaging and closing incidents with post‑incident reviews.
• Mentor and coach engineers, building capabilities and ensuring high standards of software, test, and platform design.
