The research center is part of the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) at the University of Texas – Medical School at Houston. The research center is housed in TIRR Memorial Hermann Hospital that allows easy and convenient access to patient populations, including stroke, spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, amputation and pain. TIRR Memorial Hermann Hospital is ranked #2 in Rehabilitation according to US News and World Report.
