PhD student position in space plasma physics
The start time of the position is in autumn 2026, or otherwise as agreed, for a fixed-term ending latest in August 2030 – a Finnish PhD thesis project typically takes around four years.
This PhD project will perform a coordinated analysis of multipoint in situ measurements and numerical simulations performed with the ion-kinetic Vlasiator code to quantify how interplanetary shocks modify solar wind current sheets across a range of scales. The research will be conducted within University of Helsinki Space Physics Group ( and will involve collaboration with leading experts in the field from Europe and the United States.
