Function of Position:

Reporting to the Director of TRIO Student Support Services, the Academic Coach is a part-time, temporary, grant-funded professional staff member who supports TRIO SSS participants with academic success, college-level writing, reading comprehension, study strategies, numeracy and math-success strategies, and self-regulated learning. The Academic Coach provides individual and small-group support on a walk-in and scheduled basis, with emphasis on the writing process, reading strategies, time management, exam preparation, academic planning, and college transition. The Academic Coach supports students as independent, intentional learners through active listening, guiding questions, and strategy-based instruction.
