Cygnet Group is recruiting a Mental Health Law Practitioner to join our team at Cygnet Hospital Oldbury. The hospital offers secure mental health services for men and has two wards: a 12‑bed Rational PICU and a 15‑bed Acute Ward, supported by a full multidisciplinary team (MDT). The role is based in the West Midlands and involves 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9 am–5 pm.

Job responsibilities

• Ensure that all procedures relative to the Mental Health Act and associated legislation are adhered to.
• Ensure the legal detention of patients.
• Ensure adequate records for detained patients are maintained.
• Ensure adequate and safe storage of documentation.
• Receive section papers during working hours.
• Arrange correction of errors relating to detention of patients to meet all legal requirements.
