Medical Retina Research Fellow

University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust is delighted to offer a 12‑month fixed‑term training contract for a Medical Retina Research Fellow to develop clinical and research skills within our ophthalmology department.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide clinical care for patients with complex retinal conditions including uveitis, age‑related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal vein occlusions and inherited retinal diseases.
• Assist on cataract surgery lists and other ocular procedures as required.
• Participate in national clinical trials and conduct research activity, including data collection, analysis and publication.
• Contribute to teaching of junior staff and medical students; deliver audit projects and clinical learning sessions.
• Maintain and develop an educational portfolio under supervision in line with the specialty training curriculum.
