About the job

Although everyday may look different, as part of our team you will code and verify death and stillbirth registrations, determine underlying causes, interpret causes not in conformity with International Classification of Diseases, correspond with physicians, coroners, hospitals and other organizations to obtain or clarify information, batch and match incomplete death/stillbirth documents, and update various manuals and indexes.

Technical Knowledge

• Knowledge of medical terminology and experience coding using the International Classification of Diseases and other related resources.
• The ability to interpret and apply relevant legislation such as the Vital Statistics Act.

Communication and Interpersonal Skills

• Oral and written communication skills to prepare correspondence and liaise with physicians, coroners, hospitals and other individuals.
