**At least 3 years of relevant social work experience preferred. Experience in an Acute Care or post-acute care setting desired but not required. Positions in this classification prefer LCSW licensure.**

**Description**

The Life Care Specialist position is a response to the American opioid epidemic and aims to provide opioid safety education, mental wellness skills and pain management techniques to patients in inpatient and outpatient settings.

Responsibilities and Duties:

+ Work with patients to teach prescription opioids safety practices
+ Provide a number of behavioral pain management strategies including, but not limited to: the skills of the Community Resiliency Model, Progressive Muscle Relaxation, and diaphragmatic breathing techniques.
+ Assess the risk of substance misuse using the Opioid Risk Tool and communicate with the patients assigned medical team when there is an increased risk
