Under the supervision of the Principal Investigator (PI), the Lab Assistant will assist in research aimed at understanding how Toxoplasma gondii cells and/or Schistosoma mansoni worms (larval stages) accomplish physical feats like movement, tissue invasion, and shape change. The incumbent will use standard repetitive experimental procedures to culture and image mammalian cells, Toxoplasma gondii cells, and flatworm (Schistosoma mansoni) larvae. Assist with culturing cell lines, engineering cell lines, imaging cells and parasites using fluorescence microscopy, and quantitative analysis of microscopy images and movies. May assist in the development of theoretical models of motility or shape change in lieu of some experimental work, as needed.
