Job Description

The Department of Surgery at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) is seeking a dynamic, academically oriented, fellowship trained, surgeon to lead the UAB Division of Surgical Oncology. The successful candidate will lead an active, collaborative clinical, teaching and research program consisting of 13 surgical oncology faculty.


The Department of Surgery is comprised of over faculty and over fellows, residents and staff, and has 9 Divisions including Surgical Oncology. The clinical programs in the Department are world leaders in their field and are housed at the University Hospital which is the 3rd largest public hospital in the US. The Department has over 13 million dollars in research funding annually including 3 NIH training grants: a NIH/NCI T32 Surgical Oncology grant, a NIH/NIDDK T35 grant, and a NIH/NCI R25 oncology grant. The education programs consist of 5 residencies and 10 fellowships.
