About Bis at Karara

Bis has proudly partnered with Karara Mining, located approximately 200 km southeast of Geraldton, WA. Karara is the largest mining operation and the first major magnetite mine in the Mid-West region, offering a stable, well-resourced, and innovative work environment.

At Karara, Bis operates a mobile Tailings Storage Facility (TSF) — a first-of-its-kind system in Australia. This mobile TSF plays a key role in sustainable mining, managing approximately 9 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) of dry stack tailings. The system operates 24/7 and is designed to safely and efficiently transport tailings material at an average rate of 2,000 tonnes per hour.
