INTERNSHIP SUMMARY:

This two-month clinical experience for child psychiatry residents is part of the Early Childhood Curriculum.  Trainees are involved in observation of children and staff, and consultative skill development at a day care and preschool, the Marygrove Early Education Center, operated by Starfish.

 

STRUCTURE:

Trainees will participate in a weekly half-day agency experience at the Marygrove Early Education Center. The clinical experience will be structured in 2-month cycles for trainees and includes on-site activities (4 hours per week) and 1 hour of weekly group supervision. The clinical experience will consist primarily of developmental observation of infants, toddlers, and preschool-aged children, as well as immersion in the day care/preschool setting in order to develop an understanding of the relevant staff, environmental and developmental issues...
