Derrickhand Responsibilities

The primary duties of the Derrickhand are maintaining proper drilling fluid characteristics, the rate of fluid circulation, mud handling equipment, and the preventative maintenance program. Additionally the Derrickhand is responsible for the work done above the rig floor. The Derrickhand must be able to identify and avoid potential problems and is responsible for the operations of the pump truck, moving the rig, setting up and tearing down the rig, as well as assists in training junior crew members.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

• With instruction from the Driller and Manager, condition the drilling fluid and maintains mud pumps
• Ensure preventative maintenance is performed on all equipment
