Duties Description POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Duties: As a Dental Hygienist, you would perform any of the allowable services in accordance with Section 6606 of the New York State Education Law, under the direct supervision of a licensed dentist providing compassionate oral care for the developmentally disabled population. You would perform preliminary exams, prophylaxis, scaling and curettage, as well as take x-rays, and administer fluoride, SDF treatments and sealants. Charting of existing dental history and noting the areas of deterioration which need repair.
An important part of your duties would be in-office education of patients and/or their aides. You would work collaboratively with the dental assistant when available and assist the dentist, when needed, with chair-side procedures.
