Position Overview

Community Health Nurse (CHN) in the Department of Health, Government of Nunavut. Full‑time, permanent. Responsible for client promotion, protection, and restoration of health, education, disease prevention, and support within a primary health care setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive community health services with the health care team.
• Make decisions regarding client management including crisis management and referrals.
• Arrange safe client transport and act as medical escort when required.
• Apply nursing process to assess clients and develop, implement health promotion and disease prevention strategies.
• Incorporate Inuit culture, language, and traditions into practice.
• Support orientation and guidance of new nurses, students, and support staff.
