Position Overview
Position Summary:
The Sterile Processing Technician performs and participates in decontamination, cleaning, assembling, packaging, scanning, sterilization, storage and distribution of reusable procedural/surgical instrumentation and equipment. Ensures equipment, instruments, and supplies can be reused safely to prevent infections for safe patient care.
Education, License & Cert:
High school graduate or equivalent. Must become central sterile processing certified within 18 months of hire to maintain employment.
Experience:
1. Has successfully passed a nationally accredited central service exam for central service technicians; holds and maintains CRCST or CSPDT.
2. Provides evidence of employment as a Central Processing Technician in a healthcare facility for a cumulative period of one year, occurring within January 2011 to January 2015.
