Position Overview
This role supports clinical laboratory operations by performing specimen collection, handling, and processing tasks. The Laboratory Assistant I works closely with Clinical Laboratory Scientists to carry out automated, semi-automated, and manual laboratory procedures, ensuring accurate and timely specimen management.
Key Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe and clean work environment, adhering to safety and infection control protocols.
• Collect specimens via venipuncture and capillary sticks.
• Process and transport specimens, including sorting, requisition entry, and distribution to laboratory sections.
• Centrifuge and aliquot specimens into appropriate containers.
• Enter blood culture bottles into instrumentation systems.
• Manage telephone communications, triage calls, take messages, and assist clinicians with report lookups as appropriate.
